These terms apply to the Woodshed website, the web app at woodshedapp.aphvn.com and the Woodshed apps for iOS and Android (together, "Woodshed"). Woodshed is provided by APHVN Limited, registered in England and Wales with company number 15968200 ("we", "us"). By using Woodshed you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. What Woodshed does
Woodshed separates songs you import into stems, analyses them and gives you tools to practise with them. It is a practice tool for musicians, teachers and students.
2. Your account
You must be at least 13 to use Woodshed. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for what happens on your account. A guest account lives on one device, so sign in if you want to keep your library across devices.
3. Plans and prices
Free plan
The free plan includes 3 new songs a month, up to 5 minutes each, and the features shown on our pricing page. Free allowances can change over time.
Premium and Pro
- Premium and Pro are billed monthly or yearly and renew automatically until you cancel.
- Yearly plans may start with a free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.
- Cancel at any time. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for and are not charged again.
- Cancel on the web from your account, or in the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- "Unlimited songs" means no monthly song cap for normal personal use. We may limit automated, shared or abusive use that puts the service at risk for other people.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown before you pay and include any VAT or sales tax that applies. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for. Payments are handled by Freemius on the web (as merchant of record), Apple in the iOS app and Google Play in the Android app, each under its own terms. We never see your full card details.
4. Refunds
Purchases are final and non-refundable, which is why yearly plans start with a free trial. If you live in the UK or EU you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase; when you buy, you ask us to start your plan immediately and agree that you lose that right once it starts. This does not affect your rights if Woodshed is faulty or not as described. App Store and Google Play purchases follow their refund processes.
5. Your songs and recordings
You keep all rights in what you import and record. You give us a limited licence to store, process and play it back to you so we can run Woodshed. We do not publish your files, share them or use them to train AI models.
Only import audio you have the right to use. Splitting a song for your own practice, study or teaching is the purpose of Woodshed. Releasing, selling or publicly performing stems or mixes of someone else's recording needs permission from the rights holder, and is your responsibility.
6. What you must not do
- Break the law, or infringe anyone's copyright or other rights.
- Use Woodshed to make and distribute stems of recordings you do not have the rights to.
- Try to break, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service.
- Share, resell or automate an account to get around plan limits.
7. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Woodshed infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the details and we will act on it promptly.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Woodshed running but cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We may change, add or remove features. Separation and analysis are done by machine learning and are not perfect: stems can contain traces of other instruments and detected chords or lyrics can be wrong.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for business losses or loss that was not foreseeable. Our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and £100. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app or by emailing us; this deletes your songs, stems and recordings. Cancel any App Store or Google Play subscription separately. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We change the date at the top and tell you before a significant change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using Woodshed and cancel your plan.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer you can bring a claim in the courts where you live and keep your local consumer protections. Please email us first so we can try to put things right.
